41st Annual Poway Days and Rodeo
In September I attended the Poway Days Parade, Poker Trail Ride, and the Poway Pro Rodeo. This rodeo means a lot to me, not only because I was born in Poway, but I have been riding in this rodeo every year since 2008. Whether it be in Jr Barrels or the two years I was their Jr Queen. It was wonderful coming back, and they treated me extra special. So I owe them a big thank you for that!
Earlier in the month I was in the parade. It was fun to ride with the Poway Rodeo Queens and the rodeo committee float. Other than the 100 degree heat, it was a blast! The next week, the rodeo held their annual Poker Trail Ride. I was lucky enough to be a trail boss for the intermediate level ride: two hours round trip! In my group alone there was approximately 25 horse and riders! It was so well organized. Along the route the committee had watering stations and rest stops to get your next amount of playing cards. Afterwards there was a raffle, lunch, and award for best poker hand.
Then of course, the rodeo! Unfortunately I had a terrible cold over the weekend, but that didn’t stop me having having the time of my life. Luckily the Poway Rodeo has always fallen on my Birthday weekend! Always fun to have a rodeo themed birthday! Over the three performances, I was given the opportunity to carry a great amount of flags and to push cattle. I even met a couple well-known cowboys along the way. The weekend was unforgettable, especially because of the Poway Rodeo Queen director Lisa Banning-Bankhead. I will forever owe her for getting me where I am now, and making me feel so appreciated.
