Springville Sierra Rodeo

The last weekend of April is a very busy weekend for competitors going down the rodeo trail. It was for me as well, since I was splitting my time between Clovis and Springville. I am very proud to say that I can add a new title to my resume. Yes, that’s right, I am the Hide Racing Champion of the Springville Sierra Rodeo!!!!! Leah and I crossed the finish line in 14 seconds!!!!!!! I have never been more scared to do something in my life, I was so dang nervous!!!!! The reason that I chose to do the hide race competition is because last year Ashley had attempted it and was unsuccessful.  When I arrived at the rodeo, Diane, the queen coordinator, asked me if I was going to participate in this event. Of course I had to – if I didn’t I knew Ashley would never let me forget it!!!!!! Before my arrival in Springville, I had heard that there was a billboard advertising the rodeo that had my picture on it, so of course I had to find it. Sure enough, on the 65 there it was.  Needless to say, I have never seen myself that big!!!!!! It was so surreal to see my face on something of that level. Thank you so much to the Springville Sierra Rodeo for putting me up there – it was AWESOME!!!!!!!! While in Springville, I had the opportunity to announce the new royalty for 2010. A BIG congratulations to Jade Moore and her court.  They will have an amazing year representing their community and the sport of rodeo. It was nice to meet everyone that helps with the Springville Rodeo, and it was an honor to be a part of a 62 year tradition!!!!!!

God Bless,
Markie
